Koinonia John the Baptist is a member of the Federation “Koinonie Giovanni Battista“, which is a lay association in the Catholic Church, founded 25 years ago, in 1979, in Italy, by Fr. Ricardo Arganaraz.A member of the Catholic Fraternity, Koinonia is a community of priests (1+12), consecrated brothers and sisters (c. 120) and lay faithful (circa. 3000). Koinonia “Oases” and “Realities” exist across Europe in Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and in Poland, in the USA and in Mexico. In October 2001 a lay community of Koinonia John the Baptist was founded in Belfast and is progressing throughout the rest of Ireland. Koinonia is called to be “John the Baptist”, preparing the way of the Lord, by equipping the Church in a biblical mentality and laying down the foundations of faith by evangelisation through courses (Paul, Philip, Emmaus, John etc.), by prayer, praise and scripture proclamation and by the encouragement of Houses of Prayer (HOPEs).
